On the Roof: Not Coming Down ’til $50K for Speed the Ligh

Why is a 12 year old not coming down off the roof of a church building?

Because $50,000 for missionaries has not come in yet. Kingston Harder is 12. He is

going on the roof of his church for 72 hours and not coming down until $50,000 for Speed

the Light is raised right here. Every dollar puts wheels under a missionary. None of it

WHO IS KINGSTON

A 7th grader from the Pacific Northwest who does big challenges so other people get real

help. His parents run the campaign. He will not know who is lifting him until he goes live.

WHY THE ROOF

In Mark 2, four friends could not get their paralyzed friend through the crowd to Jesus, so

they went up on the roof and lowered him through it. Kingston is on the roof for the same

reason: to get help to people who cannot reach it. His life verse is Revelation 4:10, where

the elders cast their crowns before the throne. That is why there is a crown on his name.

The crown is for the King.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

Speed the Light gets missionaries where God is sending them. Since 1944, students

have given so missionaries have the trucks, vans, and equipment their ministry runs on.

Every dollar given here goes to Speed the Light through the Northwest Ministry Network

and is applied to approved missionary projects. Right now 16 Northwest missionaries are

waiting on $463,350 in approved vehicles and equipment.

WHO YOU ARE SENDING

Seth Buikema, Southern Thailand. Called at seven, Seth plants the church in villages

that have never had one. For years he reached mountain communities on a bicycle. In

February, students in the Northwest funded his truck. That is what this money does.

Berly and Jamie Bello, Dominican Republic. 26 years of church planting and next gen

ministry that has trained hundreds of leaders and reached thousands of teenagers. Their

vehicle was approved in August 2021 and not one dollar has been applied. They are still

driving a 2012 Durango.

Doug and Bonnie Knox, Washington and Idaho. Living out of their motorhome in

church parking lots, they remodel and repair about fifteen churches a year for free. A

truck keeps supply runs from wearing out the home they live in.

Brooke Miller, Belize. Building children’s ministry across an entire country and putting

uniforms, backpacks, and lunch in the hands of kids who show up to school without them.

And one we cannot name, carrying the light of Jesus into a hard place on a bicycle.
