Removing Barriers, Empowering Purpose

Seven years ago, a tragic car accident left Jakob “Jay” Torres paralyzed from the waist down. After years of struggling with hope and identity, Jay found Jesus—and everything changed.

Today, Jay is a bright light in middle school ministry at New Life Youth Church. His gentleness, joyful smile, and love for Jesus draw students to him, and he faithfully serves every week. Now in his second year of ministry, Jay is pursuing God’s call by attending Northwest University while serving as a New Life Intern.

Jay never lets his limitations keep him from showing up. But without a power wheelchair, navigating King County—especially the hilly Northwest University campus—is increasingly difficult and expensive.

Jay has poured into so many students. Now, we have an opportunity to pour into him. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Jay’s first power wheelchair, giving him greater freedom and independence as he pursues his education and ministry calling. Any funds raised beyond the goal will help cover transportation between campus and Youth Church.
