Assemblies of God Missionary Onboarding

Step by step guide for Assemblies of God missionaries to create, verify, and launch a HopeGives campaign. Learn how AG onboarding works and funding process

Welcome to HopeGives for AG Missionaries. If you are serving as an Assemblies of God global worker and want to raise support through HopeGives, we’ve designed a step-by-step onboarding process that aligns with AG systems and giving structures.

Step 1: Create an Account

Go to HopeGives.com and sign up for a free account using AG Login. This will serve as your fundraising hub on the HopeGives platform.

Step 2: Begin the Missionary Verification Process

After creating your account, you’ll start the verification process that connects your HopeGives profile with the Assemblies of God giving infrastructure. This makes sure your campaign is recognized and approved by your organization. To begin verification:

  • Go to Profile -> Dashboard
  • Select Become a Verified Missionary
  • Complete the steps
  • Select "The General Council of the Assemblies of God" as the sending organization during the set up process.
  • This can be changed at anytime by going to your settings page.

During this step, you’ll enter your six digit AG account number and indicate whether you serve with AGWM (type 600001) or AGUSM (type 700001). This ensures your verification connects to the correct account.

Serving in a Sensitive Region?

If you serve in a region where your identity must be protected, HopeGives lets you fully mask your public presence while still verifying and raising support normally.

During the verification process, look for the Identity Privacy section and check "Mask my identity publicly." When enabled:

  • Your real name will not be shown on campaigns, donor walls, search results, API responses, or webhook payloads
  • Only Your sending organization reviewing your application will see your real name
  • You'll be required to set a Public Alias—a pseudonym that will display everywhere on HopeGives in place of your real name (e.g., "Global Worker" or "James in East Asia")

Choose your alias carefully. Use something generic enough that it won't compromise your safety or location—avoid identifying details, specific cities, or names tied to your real identity.

You'll also have the option to hide your affiliated organization on public pages, if you'd prefer your sending organization not be visible alongside your alias.

Once enabled, masking applies platform-wide immediately and can be adjusted later from your profile settings if your circumstances change.

Step 3: Create Your Campaign

Once verified, you’ll be able to start a Hope Campaign. Click “Start a Hope Campaign” and fill out the details like your campaign title, goal amount, description, and photos.

For AG missionaries, all funds raised on HopeGives will automatically be categorized as Class 56—the standard class for missionary support within the AG system. You can then transfer those funds to another class or AG account using your normal AG processes.

What This Means for You

This process makes sure your HopeGives campaign is:

  • Connected to the Assemblies of God giving system
  • Properly verified for AG accountability
  • Set up so all funds raise into the correct AG giving class
